Ede is leaving to concentrate on property and music promotional interests. His main responsibility for risk management at Airwave will be handled by head of regional communications Josh Berle and the firm’s five regional communication offices.
Head of comms Barbara Nash, who took charge of Airwave’s comms department after a reshuffle earlier this year, said: ‘It’s hard for one person to handle this so it made sense for it to become more of a regional communications role.’
Key challenges include the attempt to allay fears that the masts used for the services are a health risk, according to Ede. Currently half of all police forces use the service and the aim is for a complete nationwide roll-out by mid 2005.
