Dell names new comms boss for Spain and Portugal

MADRID – Computer giant Dell has named Pedro Fernandez de Cordoba head of communications and marketing for Spain and Portugal, replacing Luis Alvarez, who left the company last Spring.

A Dell spokesman said De Cordoba will handle marketing and comms initiatives in tandem with Dell’s Spanish and Portuguese PR agencies GCI Agora and GCI associate Young Network respectively.

One of De Cordoba’s top goals will be to oversee strategy aimed a boosting Dell’s image in Portugal, where the company is expanding, the spokesman said. As part of that initiative there will be a major company presentation with the Portuguese press early next year, he added.

Working from Dell’s headquarters in Madrid, De Cordoba will lead a 10-strong team in Spain and Portugal and report to Gabriel Cerrada, Dell’s managing director in the Iberian peninsula.

In a statement, Cerrada said about De Cordoba’s appointment: ‘Pedro has solid experience in marketing

and communications, which he has focused on the computer industry since the beginning of his career.

We are convinced he will add value to Dell’s business model in Spain and Portugal.’

Prior to joining Dell, De Cordoba, 33, headed marketing for US business-software company Siebel Systems in Spain and Portugal.
