Invensys axes its top comms post amid refocus bid

Invensys has axed the role of its vice-president of communications, Duncan Bonfield, as it rationalises its offering.

The firm, which provides signalling software to Metronet, one of the consortia responsible for running London Underground infrastructure, said it would not replace Bonfield or corporate PR manager Julie Weldon, who recently left to join the Whitbread Group. It is not known whether Bonfield has another job to go to.

Last week, Invensys sold its metering business to IMS Meters Holdings Inc for £388m. The company said in June it also wanted to sell its wind power, home appliance controls and climate control businesses, in a bid to cut liabilities.

Invensys investor relations manager Michael Davies said he would not review the firm’s relationship with Brunswick, which advises it on financial PR.
