She replaces Malcolm Coles, who has been made managing editor of Which?, the body's general consumer issue title.
Computing Which? focuses on practical advice, said Ross, a previous editor of the Australian Consumers' Association publication Computer Choice.
'Not everyone is interested in how much RAM their computer has, but lots of people want to send a picture of their new dog to friends,' she said.
'Desktop PCs are the primary focus, although gadgets do come into it.
Digital cameras have a broad appeal, while PDAs have dropped off a bit for the home user. But we are always interested in new developments,' she added.
