MEDIA: This Is Money hires BBC finance editor

The editor of the BBC's business and finance website, Guy Dresser, is to take over as editor of Associated New Media's personal finance site This Is Money on 3 November. He replaces Steve McDowell, who left to freelance two months ago (PRWeek, 8 August).

Dresser launched the business and finance website in May 2002, as a way of publicising the BBC's various personal finance programmes on TV and radio. The site has now been merged with BBC News Online's business site, which is edited by Tim Weber.

Dresser said: 'This Is Money is a way of reaching an audience that doesn't read the newspapers. It is commercially very successful and has the strength of Associated Newspapers behind it.'

Dresser described This Is Money, which gets 4.5 million page views per month, as'providing help and information, a guiding hand. It is a trusted brand in the eyes of users, which is so important these days'.

Dresser joined the BBC in 2001. Before that, he was at Sunday Business, now called The Business, where he held a variety of posts including City correspondent.
