Konzotis is to run the newly created body until its public launch in October 2004. The institute plans to appoint a full-time director thereafter.
RIBA chief executive Richard Hastilow said the foundation would help the Institute’s work of increasing public awareness of, and involvement in, architecture.
The foundation takes in RIBA’s library, drawings and photo collections, as well as the institute’s information centre, its gallery team and its awards team.
‘The foundation will promote the benefits of good design to the public and encourage informed debate when people and communities are consulted on the design of the buildings that they use,’ said Hastilow.
