DIARY: Poor show from PR as Cherie sends her best

There was an unusually subdued feel to the Marriott bar at the Labour conference this week.

Following Gordon Brown's barnstorming performance on Monday, there was a noticable lack of the public affairs industry's heaviest hitters in their usual conference mode of shmoozing politicos and journalists.

In the adjoining exhibition hall, Cherie Blair was left distraught by one particular absentee.

The First Lady's favourite nurse on one pharma firm's annual 'healthcheck' stand was off sick this year, prompting Cherie to dispel the Lady Macbeth tag and dispatch a get well soon card. Bless.
