MEDIA: BBC Mags hires Hayes to edit food title

BBC Magazines has appointed Christine Hayes as editor of its forthcoming food magazine, codenamed Project Olive.

Hayes, who is currently editor of IPC's Bride To Be magazine in Australia, will join the magazine on 10 November to launch the first issue.

She will report to editorial director Orlando Murrin, who also oversees the 324,400-circulation BBC Good Food magazine. Hayes recently launched the Australian edition of 25 Beautiful Homes.

Before moving to Australia, she was editor of IPC's Wedding and Home.

Foodies will be spoilt for choice this autumn, with Project Olive rival Delicious to be launched by Seven Publishing. Sainsbury's Magazine, published by New Crane, has also revamped its editorial team and content (PRWeek, 19 September).

Meanwhile, BBC Magazines has announced the name of its new teen lifestyle magazine. Formerly known as Project April, it will be called Dare. Preview issues of the fortnightly title are to be distributed in the October issue of Top of the Pops Magazine on 7 October and It's HOT! on 14 October.
