Brighter grabs holiday firm’s brief

Holiday firm Cendant VRG UK has appointed Brighter PR, on fees understood to be around £400,000, to handle communications for its stable of 23 brands, after a six-way pitch process.

Brighter MD Steve Dunne leads a five-strong team on the account and reports to Cendant head of PR Fiona Aston.

Brighter is briefed to build an information vehicle called Holidays 23 – a reference to the number of brands owned by Cendant, which specialises in self-catering holidays.

Brands include Country Holidays, Chez Nous, English Country Cottages, French Life, Blakes Country Cottages and Blakes Holiday Boating. The firm runs skiing holidays too.

‘We will set up a one-stop bureau for journalists seeking information on the client’s various brands, serving as a central media relations office for Cendant,’ said Dunne.

The agency will issue statistics on market performance on a regular basis, he added.

‘There will now be one number and one contact point at which to get an instant snapshot of developments within the travel industry,’ he said.

Cendant had previously used several different agencies to promote the various brands. These included the Saltmarsh Partnership, which handled PR for English Country Cottages, and Magellan PR, which handled PR for the French Life brand.

Aston said: ‘The previous agencies were very good, but we felt we needed one voice only to represent our many brands. As we represent a large slice of the travel industry, we think we can offer insight.

‘Brighter PR’s Holiday 23 concept was what we were looking for to deliver this.’
