CEZ pitch part of rebranding move

PRAGUE: Czech power utility CEZ is staging a PR pitch as part of an ongoing revamp of marcoms strategy at the electricity generation and distribution giant.

The company’s PR is currently handled by EMC, which has worked for CEZ since November 2001, reporting to CEZ marcoms manager Robert Kvapil.

Early last month, CEZ chairman and CEO Jaroslav Mil unveiled a new corporate identity as part of the first stage of a company-wide rebranding blitz.

EMC has handled PR work including ‘strategic consultancy’, media relations and production of CEZ’s internal magazine, according to account director Martin Manák.

CEZ is planning to boost its spend on advertising as well as PR, according to the Prague Business Journal.

Earlier this year, CEZ completed a series of acquisitions in the part-privatised Czech electricity market, buying a majority stake in a number of Czech regional electricity distributors and selling a two-thirds stake in national grid operator CEPS.

CEZ operates two nuclear plants, 10 coal-fired stations, 13 hydro-power plants and three wind-generation plants.
