COI set to review agency roster as market changes

The COI is to bring forward a review of its PR roster due to the number of mergers and acquisitions among agencies since the last overhaul two years ago.

Despite having the option not to review until 2006, the government procurement service has decided to review in autumn next year, which is the earliest available opportunity.

COI senior corporate PR manager Janice O’Reilly said the decision was taken by COI head Alan Bishop and the service’s PR group, and all 26 agencies on the list have now been told.

She added: ‘We feel there have been changes in the market place, with a lot of M&As, and we need a new set-up.’

Examples of rostered agencies that have changed since the last review include Geronimo PR, which was acquired by public sector services firm Tribal Group this summer (PRWeek, 15 August).

Other rostered agencies include The Red Consultancy. Last year contracts up for grabs for the PR rostered agencies have totalled £7m.
