DIARY: Campbell's resignation opens door to self-promotion for agency PROs

Just as Number 10 seized upon Alastair Campbell's resignation as a PR opportunity to present a new 'spin-free' era, PROs used the news to raise their own profiles.

College Hill consultant Olly Scott secured himself a mention in The Observer, having called various media in a bid to get his name linked to the story.

Scott says he was alerted to his Observer appearance by a text message from a mate, who had 'spat out his cornflakes' when he'd spotted his friend expounding on the issue of the day.

Likewise, Fishburn Hedges consultant James Gordon-MacIntosh used Campbell's announcement as a PR opportunity for networking group these4walls, of which he is a founder and director.

Gordon-MacIntosh mocked up what he describes as 'viral posters', one of which had a picture of Campbell with the slogan 'Think it's time to "sex up" your CV?' at the foot.

These were sent to t4w members an hour after Campbell's exit was announced.

Pacey stuff, fellas, but aren't there agency clients to keep you occupied on Friday afternoons?
