COI seeks roster of PR agencies to target minorities

COI Communications is on the hunt for PR agencies to join a newly created roster of marketing communications agencies to target black and other minority ethnic groups.

The government procurement department is specifically looking for agencies with experience in communicating with communities from Pakistan, Bangladesh, India, Africa, the Caribbean and China for the roster.

COI senior corporate PR manager Janice O’Reilly could not confirm the number of agencies required, but said: ‘The process [of appointing agencies] normally takes up to three months. We want agencies that can do outreach PR, media relations, and every aspect of targeting these communities.’

Several agencies with experience in targeting ethnic groups have confirmed they will apply, including Media Moguls, which previously worked with COI on Asian recruitment campaigns for the RAF and a campaign for the Department of Health to encourage UK muslims on a pilgrimage to Mecca to get vaccinated against meningitis (PRWeek, 9 November 2001).
