Tobacco firm Nobleza presents second social balance sheet

Tobacco manufacturer Nobleza has presented its second social balance sheet, summarising initiatives resulting from dialogues with interest groups, at a press conference organised by new PR consultancy Muchnik, Alurralde, Jasper & Asociados.

Dialogue sessions were focused on the prevention of smoking among minors, and regulation of the tobacco industry. General manager and chairman of Nobleza Piccardo, Cristian Beyer, said the firm aims to take on a new socially responsible role by responding to the needs of the community and to the expectations of society.

Diego Segura, public affairs director of the company insisted the initiatives are more than a PR exercise. 'For us it is a new way of doing business,' he said.

Nobleza is the first company within Argentina to produce a regular social balance sheet, which reflects its relationship with and commitments to society, and measures its social and environmental performance.
