Herald hires first MD in two years to beef up UK focus

Herald Communications has hired former Beattie Media technology head Stephanie MacLeod as its first MD in two years.

MacLeod, who reports to executive chairman Paul Mathieu, will have a UK focus and a brief to significantly raise the agency’s profile.

She said: ‘Herald has built a comprehensive European offering, but its UK profile has been neglected.’

MacLeod led the tech practice for eight months at Beattie Media. Previously she worked at Firefly Communications as a senior account director for four years.

She will oversee a UK staff of 25. Existing clients include Olympus and LG Electronics.

Herald was founded in London in 1988 and has offices in Paris, Munich, Milan, and Prague. It opened a Warsaw office in February.

The agency has been without its MD post since it was bought by Fleishman-Hillard in 2001. The previous MD was Esene Page, who had a Europe-wide role and left at the time of the aquisition.
