British Council hires comms manager for Brazil

The British Council, the UK government agency which promotes British culture and language world-wide, has named Michelle Sartorio as its communications manager for Brazil.

Based in Rio, Sartorio will take charge of press relations, as well as content at The new position was created to integrate the communications of British Council offices across the country, she said. Other offices are situated in Sao Paulo, Curitiba and Recife, and the agency’s headquarters are in Brasilia, the country’s capital.

Current work includes the sponsorship in Sao Paulo of a UK architecture exhibition, and a Fay Godwin photograph retrospective in Brasilia. A mission of education secretaries from seven Brazilian states will travel to the UK this autumn to discuss partnerships in education programmes.
