Sony Music Entertainment UK V-P comms Gary Farrow said ‘discussions were ongoing’ as to how Morrish’s former responsibilities will be handled, but declined to comment further on potential PR changes at the music giant, which has artists including Jennifer Lopez in its stable.
Morrish – who left the music production, distribution and marketing giant a fortnight ago, having been made redundant – has resurfaced as head of corporate PR at The Outside Organisation.
His departure from Sony is part of a global programme of cut-backs that began in March when Sony Music Entertainment warned that 1,000 jobs globally – ten per cent of its overall workforce – were likely to be axed.
Explaining his new role at Outside, Morrish said his remit was to win corporate PR clients, adding: ‘Essentially, this will be music-oriented.’
Asked whether the appointment signalled a shift away from Outside’s core individual music and celebrity clients, CEO Alan Edwards said: ‘Brand and corporate work is something we have moved into gradually’.
Outside already works for clients such as music promotions giant Clear Channel and beer brand Carling.
