Manchester police bolsters its media relations function

Greater Manchester Police has created five new communications posts to bolster the function.

Chief Constable Michael Todd has given the go-ahead to the newly created positions to specifically strengthen its website and media relations.

The posts are two web officers, an extra PRO, a PR assistant and another role to bolster media photography work.

Acting corporate communications director Amanda Coleman said the posts had been funded through an extra spend on comms, rather than diverting budget funds.

Also this week, the force has unveiled an unusual crime prevention campaign. For the first time it has staged a crime prevention garden at the annual Royal Horticultural Society’s Tatton Show, which takes place this week.
