Journalists hoping to find out how a health think-tank recommended the NHS should deal with staff shortages were surprised to be directed to a pornographic website. While broadminded hacks may have considered it a radical solution to the medical brain drain, the King's Fund was mortified.
The link was supposed to be a downloadable summary of its report, but instead accessed AdultFriendFinder, the self-proclaimed 'world's largest sex and swinger personals site'.
King's Fund public affairs officer Daniel Reynolds issued a second email apologising for the 'slightly embarrassing' error and giving the correct URL which, for the record, is www. kingsfund.org.uk/publications.
As Reynolds said, the other address transports the unwitting surfer 'to a rather interesting website that doesn't necessarily deal in health and social care matters'. Well, perhaps only in the broadest sense of the phrase.
