Firms join forces to form new South African PR player

JOHANNESBURG: Gillian Gamsy International Communications (GGi) and Kuyasa Communications MD Nathi Gaisa last month joined forces to launch a South Africa-based joint-venture called Kuyasa GGi.

GGi executive director Daryn-Lee Gamsy described the agency as a ‘black-empowered PR consultancy’, benefiting from significant black ownership, but also drawing on the international reach of affiliate Weber Shandwick Worldwide.

Gamsy said the agency would meet the ‘diverse communications challenges’ of business in South Africa.

Gaisa has been appointed MD of Kuyasa GGi, which is based at GGi’s Johannesburg offices, and will initially be supported by two staff.

Kuyasa GGi will target both public and private sector clients, as well as NGOs, offering media relations, community and government relations, plus crisis management and events.
