Maquina will work in partnership with the corporation's in-house press relations department. Five agency staff will be based within CVRD, the world's leading producer and exporter of iron ore. Three will work at the corporation's Rio headquarters whilst the other two will be based in the Sao Paulo and Brasilia offices.
Liana Verdini will co-ordinate the account from Rio, reporting to CVRD press relations director Fernando Thompson.
Maquina shareholder Ines Castelo said, 'The Vale account demands countrywide coverage. We are negotiating partnership with six agencies to fulfil the company's needs.'
CVRD was founded in 1942 and privatised in 1997. It operates in 14 Brazilian states and has stakes in companies operating in the US, France, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Norway and Bahrain.
