Biss Lancaster set to handle Channel Four Video comms

Channel Four Video has appointed Biss Lancaster Euro RSCG as its first retained PR agency, following a five-way pitch.

The brief is to handle both trade and consumer PR, promoting not just releases but also the five-year-old brand itself to the entertainment and retail sectors.

According to Michelle Waldron, the Biss Lancaster board director leading the account, key DVD and video releases to be promoted include the second series of Bo Selecta in November, the fourth series of Big Brother in August and the second series of Peter Kay comedy Phoenix Nights in October.

She added that on the trade side the agency would be helping to attract new talent to the label, particularly those on the stand-up comedy circuit who may have not yet have a TV presence: ‘The label is not just about those who already have a programme, it’s about promoting new talent.’

Work by Biss Lancaster will include face-to-face meetings with entertainment management firms.

Channel Four Video is a joint venture by Channel Four and independent distributor VCI. Other titles released include videos and DVDs for comedy drama Teachers and historian David Starkey’s TV series.
