The unit, created by the Advertising Association in 1995, is an information and research centre that deals with food advertising issues.
This week the FAU said it had hired Fuel PR to help communicate its messages, which include a call to restrict advertising directed at children.
‘It’s a hot topic and we’re being brought in to widen the debate,’ said Fuel PR managing director Gillian Waddell.
Immediate PR plans include a media briefing next week. Waddell said the briefing is to educate opinion-formers with the intention of getting the information to the general public as well.
The FAU is also expected to announce a new research initiative in early September.
