The £100,000-a-year account – which covers Siebel’s UK corporate PR, media relations and product launches, as well as issue and reputation management – has been handled by Hill & Knowlton for three years.
H&K head of corporate comms Sally Costerton said that the agency had resigned the account. However, she was unclear as to the reasons why, adding only: ‘It is clear that our mutual needs have changed and now is the right time to bow out.’
A request to take part in the pitch was expected to be issued to around five agencies as PRWeek went to press. H&K will not be repitching for the account.
It is understood Siebel hopes to hire the new agency by the end of this month, to begin work in August.
Siebel Systems senior director EMEA PR Alison Campbell said: ‘As CRM market leader, Siebel has a relevant viewpoint and we need to ensure our voice is heard. We are looking for a proactive UK agency to drive and motivate us to achieve great PR results – fostering key journalist relationships and re-establishing Siebel Systems as a key industry commentator.’
Campbell, who joined Siebel Systems in January from competitor Oracle, said she hoped to have a shortlist of three agencies by the middle of this month.
‘We take our choice of UK PR partner seriously, and the decision about our new agency will be made between our head of EMEA marketing, head of EMEA PR, head of UK marketing and head of global PR,’ she said.
Siebel makes software that automates the sales and customer service operations of large corporations. This is particularly used in the call-centre, retail and online sales sectors. Other competitors arePeopleSoft and SAP.
