MEDIA: Cosmopolitan extends beauty coverage

Women's glossy Cosmopolitan is increasing its coverage of beauty issues in a move that will interest PROs with clients in the skincare sector.

The July issue of the National Magazine Company title, whose name is a byword for racy sex tips, features six extra regular beauty pages with the emphasis on practicality and quick, easy-to-follow suggestions for improving looks.

Editor Lorraine Candy said that she welcomed approaches from PROs, but warned: 'You have to have something practical to the reader. If you have a launch and there's a great survey around it, we would be interested in talking about it, but not if it hasn't got any science behind it.

'We think about why it works and if there is anything new in it. If PROs were to think about that they could get more coverage. Advertising money predominantly comes from beauty, and skin is a really big thing for us.'

Overseen by beauty director Alex Steinherr, the new pages will follow the theme which has made Cosmopolitan famous. Pages include: You and Him, Fast Beauty, Cheat's Guide, Hot Hair Looks and Sexy, Sexier, Sexiest'.
