UnisUnited, located at www.unisunited.com, is to draft in a PR agency as it seeks to encourage students and graduates to register.
The team that runs the site, created by student lifestyle publishing firm The Graduate Network, met ten PR agencies last week, with a view to hiring one within a fortnight.
Founder and MD Zena Melki and project manager Louise Rodger met Hill & Knowlton, Rowland Communications, MacLaurin, NP PR and Chrome Consulting.
In addition, Frank PR, Hotwire, Kaizo, Exposure and Carrot Communications also had discussions with the Glasgow-based pair over the brief.
Rodger, who said it was likely ‘around three or four’ of the agencies would be shortlisted, said a PR campaign would use news-hooks, such as user-number milestones and ‘love matches’, to gain media coverage.
Unisunited.com launched in January, when the site was at friendsfreeunited.com. However, Rodger said they decided to rebrand as UnisUnited so their site, which is aiming to become an ‘online community’, would be seen as ‘more than gimmicky’.
In respect of fees that the hired agency would secure, Rodger said: ‘We may pay a retainer and then maybe incentivise [via linking to] user-figures, by setting targets.’
