August. One Communications is to merge with sister NextFifteen Communications Group agency Joe Public Relations.
The merged company will trade as August. One Communications, with its consumer division branded as Joe Public Relations.
The JPR division will be jointly led by JPR MD Matthew Wood and August. One consumer director Sally Hetherington, with Stuart Handley remaining as chief executive of August.One.
Handley said that job cuts were ‘not the intention’ of the move, insisting that ‘six months down the line, we intend to be growing’.
He said the combined offer would enable ‘greater integration’ of B2B and B2C work.
On the decision to merge, Wood said: ‘I didn’t want to see my business shrinking - we have lost business to budget cuts, not really to other agencies. This should give us a corporate edge over consumer rivals.’
Handley said the merger would be completed by 1 August. The two agencies will co-locate at August. One’s Shepherd’s Bush office.
