The client was named as Monk officially set up Ian Monk Associates, following his departure from hatch-group subsidiary MacLaurin Media, where he was managing director (PRWeek, 28 March).
The 12-month contract with Hachette will see Monk work with the publisher’s two- strong in-house team headed by PR manager Sue Asbury.
Monk will aim to build the profile of the company in the UK, which is smaller than rivals Emap and IPC, with a market capitalisation of around £100m.
Monk said: ‘They have aggressive plans for the UK. The brief includes potential new launches and potential new acquisitions.’
