InterContinental Group hires Fundamento for Brazilian accounts

The local division of UK-headquartered InterContinental Hotels Group holding company hired local PR agency Fundamento to be in charge of its account in Brazil.

The holding company owns world hotel chains InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn and Staybridge Suites. In Brazil, the chains have hotels in seven cities and will open two new hotels in two other Brazilian cities - one in June 2003 in Sao Paulo and the other in January 2004 in Curitiba.

Glauci Soares, Fundamento's consumer manager, will be in charge of the

account and will head with a team of three agency staffers. She will report to Pedro Melo, InterContinental Hotel Group's corporative relations manager.

Soares believes his agency got the account, thanks to the services it has

provided for one of the company's hotels, the InterContinental Sao Paulo.

"We have been working together for over a year," said Soares. She added the holding company's executives recently invited Fundamento for a presentation and then decided to hire the agency.

InterContinental Hotel Group entered the country five years ago. The group

has over 3,200 hotel facilities in 100 countries worldwide.

Founded in 1990, Fundamento is headquartered in Sao Paulo. It currently has 30 staffers. Clients include Nokia, Fox Film, Fox Video, and Turner.
