Avon appoints CDN as its Brazilian corporate PR agency

Brazil: US cosmetics giant Avon has hired Companhia de Noticias (CDN), Brazil's number one PR agency, to take care of its corporate PR in the country.

The agency won the account in a competitive bidding with two other local PR agencies. Lucia Caetano, CDN's director, will lead the account's four-people team.

Avon works with two other PR agencies in Brazil, which are in charge of the

company's events organization and its beauty and health products account.

According to Cida Medeiros, Avon's press relation and corporative

communication manager, the company decided to invite CDN for the bidding process thanks to its interesting presentation during the past meeting of Aberje, the Brazilian Association of Corporate Communication.

"Their presentation of market studies was very impressive and it influenced

our choice," said Medeiros.

Avon entered the Brazilian market 44 years ago. The company has about

800,000 autonomous saleswomen in Brazil, which is the highest number of all Avon's operations in 143 countries.

With 2.6 billion reais (U$736 million) revenues in 2002, Brazil is the third

largest operation of Avon worldwide.

Headquartered in Sao Paulo, CDN has 130 staffers in five offices in Brazil

and had total revenues of 19.7 million reais (US$ 5.6 million dollars) in

2002.
