DIARY: BA travellers glimpse the funkier side of PR life

Readers of British Airways' in-flight magazine Business Life were intrigued to spot Bite Communications and Fleishman-Hillard in a feature on funky office reception areas.

Henrietta Thompson, the author, says she knows the offices through her role as assistant ed of architecture mag Blueprint.

Intriguingly, she quotes the architect responsible for Bite's lobby as saying it 'offers various degrees of intimacy in its waiting and meeting area'.

F-H's lobby has a 'giant, retro-galactic golden egg', and the architect who designed that space is quoted as saying: 'It's about taking a memory of that company, and being inspired'.

Two of the most recent people to leave - directors Jonathan Steffen and Jonathan Jordan - went in an overhaul in March (PRWeek, 28 March). They have since been 'inspired' to launch their own shop and work for rival Burson-Marsteller, respectively.
