Text 100 poaches Firefly’s Pittham to take UK MD role

Text 100 has poached Cathy Pittham from rivals Firefly Communications to fill its reinstated UK managing director post.

Pittham is set to join Text in August, less than a year after joining Firefly as a director. She will take on a slightly enlarged MD role covering Ireland and the UK. She effectively replaces Glen Goldsmith, who quit last April to launch his own firm (PRWeek, 26 April 2002).

Text EMEA MD Andy West, who took over the UK MD post in the interim, said a dedicated UK role was vital.

‘Text is a British company gone global and the UK is very much at its heart. It is critical we have someone on board with the potential to make the business in London sing,’ he said.

Pittham will lead the 24-strong UK and Ireland operations - cut from a combined team of 40 three years ago - with a remit to develop Text’s corporate PR capabilities.

Pittham, an ex-tech CEO at Weber Shandwick, said: ‘I’m better at running agencies and that’s what I’ve done in the past.’
