John Lewis: Christmas tease

John Lewis & Partners has released a trailer of its much anticipated Christmas ad.

The 10-second film shows a man resting a Christmas tree on a skateboard and wheeling it along a residential street in the dark.

On his way, he passes a family and says: "Merry Christmas." Copy over the film reads: "Christmas begins. 10.11.2022. #TheBeginner."

It indicates that the retailer's festive spot will be unveiled tomorrow (Thursday 10 November).

Adam & Eve/DDB has created John Lewis' festive campaigns since 2009 and the agency is understood to be behind this year's ad.

Earlier this week John Lewis retweeted Asda's "Have your Elf a merry Christmas", with one Twitter user having declared that "everyone can take a rest this year" because Asda has "won" 2022's Christmas ads.

The John Lewis Tweet said: "Alright... this one's quite good. But we have to ask how many times did you have to watch Elf Asda?"
