Over the last three years, the agency has seen a five-fold increase in turnover – from £476,000 to £2.9m – and more demand for its expertise than ever. MMC is the multicultural partner agency for large mainstream agencies such as Freuds, M&C Saatchi, Four Communications and MullenLowe.

It has been at the centre of major public sector campaigns in recent years, such as the government’s response to Covid-19, the Home Office campaign on violence against women, and NHS campaigns on early cancer screening and mental health.

A recent example of its work includes being part of an integrated agency team working on Covid-19 for the Cabinet Office and Department for Health and Social Care. It helped to reverse a situation where 72 per cent of Black people were unlikely to have the Covid-19 vaccine. Today, some 70 per cent of Black people have had the vaccine.

Community engagement is one of the agency’s strengths, thanks to strong relationships within communities providing grassroots insight to inform its work. And its multilingual ‘street team’, who speak over 20 languages between them, enable it to deliver hyper-local campaigns.

Diversity and inclusion are part of MMC’s DNA, with more than 95 per cent of its staff women of minority ethnic heritage. The agency has operated as a remote-only business since it was founded in 2012, to ensure it attracts a diverse workforce from across the country.
