DIARY: Christensen shoot brings capital to a standstill

Although creating a traffic-jam to promote tourism in London is undoubtedly innovative, perhaps as a concept, it may be a little too ahead of its time.

Good Relations last week secured the services of supermodel Helena Christensen for a photoshoot to promote the London Tourist Board's Totally London campaign, but as the agency forgot to alert the police or Westminster City Council of the shoot, staged near Piccadilly Circus, it inadvertently brought traffic to a standstill.

The agency later apologised to the council for causing chaos.

On the subject of Christensen, her agency - Select Model Management - has become a new client for Cake.

Cake planning director Jim Dowling described the deal as a 'you scratch my back, we'll scratch yours' partnership.

'The (modeling) industry took a battering with Donal MacIntyre's programme (in 1999, in which the BBC man investigated the seedy side of the fashion industry) and we'll be helping to promote Select's values of professionalism and trust,' said Dowling.

In return, Select will be encouraging its models to promote Cake clients 'as and when opportunities arise'.
