INTERNATIONAL: Tech firm AxiCom hires Smit to grow Dutch client base

THE HAGUE: Tech PR firm AxiCom has hired Peter Smit as its chief for the Netherlands.

Smit replaces Kelly Collier in the role of Benelux manager, joining from rival tech agency Schoep & Van der Toorn, which is owned by Brodeur Worldwide.

Collier, who launched the agency's Benelux office in 1998, leaves AxiCom after eight years with the group to spend time with her family.

Smit's immediate priority is to grow the agency's domestic Netherlands client base.

He will also be in charge of moving the agency's Benelux headquarters from its current office in The Hague to Amsterdam, which AxiCom hopes to complete by the end of the year.

'AxiCom expects me to build its profile in the Netherlands, because the agency launched here a few years ago to service clients from the rest of the network, but they want to delve more into local business,' Smit said.
