Lotus will support the Spanish Tourist Office in-house team with PR, issues management and strategic campaigns to highlight tourism in Spain.
It will focus on sustainable initiatives following the country’s €1.9m investment in green tourism, which is intended to address the climate crisis, endangered biodiversity and sustainable consumption and production.
Lotus has represented the Spanish Tourist Office since 2010, aside from 2016 when the account went to Rooster before reverting to Lotus the following year.
Manuel Butler, director of the Spanish Tourist Office (UK), said: “We are delighted to initiate a new contract with Lotus. Their comprehensive knowledge of Spain, together with their extensive experience within the travel sector and strong sustainability credentials, ideally positions them to help us deliver on our objectives.”
The account will be led by Lotus managing director Kate McWilliams, who said: “Spain has been embedded into Lotus’ foundations and is part of the agency’s DNA, and we are once again delighted and honoured to represent the UK’s most important outbound tourism destination. We believe our diverse team and our multilingual approach has helped us to stay in tune with Spain’s challenges and objectives as well as the tourism developments across the regions.
“We know that climate change will impact every destination, but we are proud to support Spain’s progressive ambitions to develop resilient strategies that address the new challenges of the tourism ecosystem, from climate change to over-tourism and health and security crises.”
