Tiscali UK PR and communications manager Jody Haskayne confirmed she was ‘reviewing agencies’ and said she expected to have made an appointment by 1 June.
The victorious agency will replace Lewis PR, which resigned from the Tiscali account due to a conflict of interest with fellow client and rival ISP BT Openworld (PRWeek, 11 April).
Haskayne declined to comment, saying only that Lewis was currently ‘still working’ with the company.
Tiscali uses Spreckley Partners on a B2B remit and Beatwax Communications for work on ‘portal promotion’.
In addition, Tiscali uses Political Intelligence for public affairs work, and last month drafted in 2thefore to handle ‘project work surrounding regulatory issues’.
Haskayne said the corporate and consumer PR remit currently up for grabs constituted ‘the largest single part’ of Tiscali’s external PR spend, but declined to reveal fees.
Haskayne – who is the sole in-house PR staffer and reports to UK MD Mary Turner – joined Tiscali earlier this year, having left an account director role at Text 100 towards the end of 2002.
Tiscali launched in the UK two years ago, but the company itself was founded by chairman and CEO Renato Soru in 1998 after the liberalisation of Italy’s telecoms market.
