WDA whittles ten agencies to four in shortlist battle

Four agencies are fighting to secure the retained PR business of The Welsh Development Agency (WDA) in the last stage of the hotly contested pitch process.

The WDA confirmed this week that four agencies had made it on to the final shortlist from an original list of ten.

WDA head of PR Helen Butler remained tight-lipped on which consultancies were in the frame to pick up the three-year brief, but confirmed five-year incumbent The Communication Group (TCG) was still in the running.

However, sources close to the pitch process indicated that TCG is up against Financial Dynamics, Good Relations and Ketchum.

Speculation suggests the WDA is on the verge of naming the successful agency, with a view to hiring within the next two weeks.

The WDA had originally hoped to have an agency on board last month, having kicked off the pitch process earlier this year.

It is expected that the initial three-year brief will be reviewed annually and possibly extended to six years.
