McNally returns to Corp of London as PA counsellor

The Corporation of London has re-appointed Weber Shandwick UK vice-chairman Lord Tom McNally as its public affairs counsellor following a review of its lobbying needs.

The reorganisation, overseen by PR director Tony Halmos, led to the scrapping of an account that had been held by WS and its predecessor firms for the last 15 years.

This covered general public affairs and senior counsel advice, but Halmos said that the corporation felt there was now only a need for the latter.

McNally, who is also LibDem leader in the Lords and is this week leading the party’s reaction to the Communications Bill, was re-appointed after a three-way pitch and an appearance in front of a panel that included the corporation’s chair of policy and resources Michael Snyder and town clerk Tom Simmons.

Halmos said: ‘The panel felt that the understanding Lord McNally has accrued of the role of the corporation through previous work on our behalf gave him the edge.’
