ELWa poised for a campaign to raise its national profile

Wales’s main education body is to embark on a PR campaign to raise awareness of its role among the adult population in Wales, partner bodies such as the Welsh Assembly and businesses interested in work-based training.

The National Council for Education and Training for Wales (ELWa) has handed Cardiff-based PR firm Working Word a £200,000 contract to help the in-house team on external comms. The aim is to target campaigns to encourage more adults to commit themselves to lifelong learning.

Working Word will focus on getting people back into education with initiatives including Learning Lunch Hour, a campaign to encourage trade unions and employers to allow employees to use their lunch hour for online learning.

ELWa is responsible for planning, promoting and funding all the over-16s learning in Wales apart from higher education – but including further education, work-based training and adult education.
