MEDIA: WSJ poised to launch specialist service

The online arm of The Wall Street Journal is launching its first specialist service dedicated to the media and marketing sector.

The media and marketing edition of the Online Journal is set to go live next month, featuring news and analysis targeted at professionals in advertising, marketing, PR, media and entertainment sectors.

Journal news editor Wendy Pollack will edit the edition, which is published by Dow Jones Consumer Electronic Publishing.

The service will be updated on a 24-hour basis and combine industry news with Dow Jones and The Journal's broader global coverage.

Online Journal managing editor Bill Grueskin said the service will cover sector company news on an international basis, alongside 'wide angle lens' features looking at market trends and issues.

'The advertising and media industries aren't what they were, but it's still a robust sector - and it's the kind of industry that is of interest to those within it as well as the wider consumer who may have an interest in TV, entertainment or advertising,' said Grueskin.
