Cadbury Schweppes on the hunt to replace Cole

Food and drink giant Cadbury Schweppes is on the hunt for a new external affairs head following the departure of incumbent Alex Cole to a non-PR role within the group.

Cadbury head of PR Dora McCabe confirmed that Cole, unavailable for comment as PRWeek went to press, is to transfer to a role outside of the group's comms department.

She previously headed external affairs, leading the areas of public affairs and CSR.

McCabe said recruitment had already begun to replace Cole, both internally and externally, to get someone on board as soon as possible.

Cole is set to leave the role within the next few weeks, two and a half years after joining the group's external affairs department. In the post, she reports to director of external affairs Neil Makin.

McCabe said: 'There's a strong element of public affairs, community relations and corporate responsibility work to this.'

Cadbury's commitment to CSR was recognised last month, when the firm gained fifth place in Business in the Community's first ever Corporate Responsibility Index.

Cadbury this month completed its £2.7bn takeover of chewing gum firm Adams from Pfizer, following shareholder approval. That deal, advised on by City PR agency The Maitland Consultancy, secures Cadbury's place as the global number two gum company, with Adams brands Bubblicious, Bubbaloo, Halls, Dentyne and Trident added to its stable.
