PUBLIC SECT0R BRIEF: Charities and reform groups lobby Government

YOUTH JUSTICE: A coalition of nine children's charities and penal reform groups is lobbying the Government for reform of the youth justice system. The charities are supporting an amendment to the criminal justice bill that establishes that custody should only be a last resort and all decisions should be taken in the child's best interests. Those backing the amendment include Barnardos, the NSPCC and the Howard League.
