DIARY: Beattie's HP staff find welcome mat at CPN's door

A happy ending to a messy saga: the mammoth review process for tech giant Hewlett Packard's PR business around the world eventually led to Porter Novelli, Hill & Knowlton and Burson-Marsteller forming a worldwide roster, with the firms then having to pitch again for work in specific countries.

UK incumbent Beattie Media's London office lost an estimated 25 per cent of its revenue after the client deserted.

This led to a staff purge, as the axe fell on five staff that had specifically worked on the HP account.

But joy - it now emerges that four of the five concerned have found safe berths ... at Countrywide Porter Novelli ... working on the HP business.

Two other Beattie staff that were recruited by H&K during the UK part of the pitch have held on to their jobs, despite H&K not picking up any HP work in this country.
