MEDIA: The Times set to dedicate section to public services

The Times is to launch a new weekly supplement for readers in the public sector with the aim of tackling issues in public services.

The first issue of Public Agenda appears next Tuesday, jointly edited by David Rowan and Parminder Bahra.

Rowan joins after ten years at The Guardian, where he launched the Education tabloid supplement and created its The Editor section.

Bahra was formerly a senior adviser for education projects at The Financial Times.

The supplement will be aimed at public sector managers and employees, covering areas such as health, education, local government and housing.

Regular columns will include readers' experiences and examples of good practice in What Worked for Me, plus a Lessons I Have Learnt column charting the trajectory of one person's public sector career each week.

Times editor Robert Thomson said that rapid growth in the public sector had led to the supplement's creation.
