Called EUpolitix, the Brussels-based portal will operate as a separate company led by CEO Adam Nyman, who has been involved in setting up the project for the last 18 months.
Nyman said the portal had been created as a means of better linking EU policy-makers with the public affairs community.
He said: 'At the moment EU policy-makers arrive at their desks and find half the Amazon there in paper. Our research shows that is not how they want to receive information. '
Nyman says that while EUpolitix has a similar format as Epolitix, which covers the UK political scene, it will be available in French as well as English. There are also long-term plans to create a German version.
An editorial advisory board has been set up to oversee the site. So far, four members have been signed up, including chairman and UK LibDem MEP Graham Watson.
