LogicaCMG to appoint in-house chief

Tech giant LogicaCMG is set to appoint an in-house corporate PR chief for the group, created last year from the merger of CMG and Logica.

News of the hire - believed to involve an external candidate - comes as the group prepares a series of pitches for its external PR business.

The London and Amsterdam-listed group is reviewing City and tech work, with possible regional pitches to follow.

The Maitland Consultancy and Citigate Dewe Rogerson, formerly retained by Logica and CMG respectively, are vying for the financial business.

Meanwhile, Logica agency Band & Brown Communications is pitching against CMG's Lewis PR for the tech remit.

LogicaCMG confirmed the City pitch was at an early stage, but it is believed a pitch list has already been drawn up for the tech review, with a result expected by mid-April.

LogicaCMG corporate PR manager Will Cameron said: 'We are reviewing, as part of the integration process.'

The in-house PR team has already been reviewed following the merger, resulting in the hunt for a comms director.

Logica has not had a permanent head of comms since Brig Daniels left in September 2001.

Former Logica CEO Martin Read took control of the newly merged group as CEO, while former CMG chairman Cor Stutterheim became non-executive chairman.
