Mark Knight and Broadgate merge to raise capacity

Financial PR specialists Mark Knight PR and Broadgate have merged in a deal that will create an agency with an annual fee income of close to £1m.

The firms - which will now go under the name Broadgate - merged in a deal that was brokered by PR industry consultants Madsen Gornall Ashe.

Mark Knight, founder of the eponymous financial services agency, said that both of the agencies had been looking to increase their capacity in specialist areas. Knight, for example, specialises in passive funds and indexing, while Broadgate's expertise had tended to lie in PR for fund managers, he said.

Knight, who is a former head of communications at The Financial Times, founded his agency ten years ago, while Broadgate was launched in 1994 by Roland Cross and Mike Lord - and entered the PRWeek top 150 for the first time in 2002.
