FALLS CHURCH, VA: Inova Health System has hired Tracey Schroeder as chief communications officer, leading internal and external communications and marketing initiatives.
Reporting to president and CEO Dr. J. Stephen Jones, Schroeder will serve on the health system’s executive leadership team and focus on unifying Inova’s communications efforts to drive awareness and highlight the impact of Inova’s values on delivering care to communities.
Schroeder is replacing Jennifer Siciliano, whose new role at Inova will be focusing on external affairs, government relations and community relations strategy. She and Schroeder will partner closely.
As CCO, Schroeder will be an integral part of Inova’s continued communications efforts around health, safety and vaccinations during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We’re at a moment where transformation is happening all around us and a healthcare system such as Inova is on the front lines helping our community through these challenging times,” she said. “Since mid-December, we’ve administered over 100,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine — my team is focused daily on ensuring we are communicating with our patients and community on how they can stay safe and healthy.”
Schroeder will also expand the communications and marketing team and continue to build Inova’s reputation, specifically honing the brand with key stakeholders through strategic, data-driven communications.
Schroeder joined Inova from Marriott International, where she was VP, global head of consumer public relations, leading communications for Marriott’s 30 brands. She led the consumer communication strategy for the company’s 2016 acquisition of Starwood Hotels and played a key role in developing ideas that brought global marketing partnerships to life for consumers.
Before Marriott, Schroeder worked at Burson-Marsteller as managing director and COO, proof integrated communications. At Burson, she spearheaded campaigns for Ford Motor Company, The Coca-Cola Company and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.
Schroeder was also senior account director at New Media Strategies, where she led the firm’s Nestlé business.
In 2018, Schroeder was named to PR Week’s 40 Under 40 list. Additionally, Schroeder taught as an adjunct professor for Johns Hopkins University’s Krieger School, focusing on PR in the age of digital influence.
